ENQUIRING OF THE LORD
David is described in Scripture as a "man after God's heart." This is referring to David's inner man, mind, will, heart, soul, and understanding. He clearly wanted to know God's will for him and so he enquired often of God. God wants His children to come to Him for the decisions we have to make in our life. We won't find a specific verse that tells us where we are to live, who we are to marry, what kind of or work we are to do etc. But if we "enquire" of God He will direct us.
Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us: "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."
Romans 14:23 tells us: "...for whatsoever is not of faith is sin."
Philippians 4:6-7 tells us: "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
If we trust God for His direction, have faith to obey, pray for His leading, then we will have the peace of God and know He has led us to the proper decision.
