DEALING WITH DISTRESSES

As we go through life, we face challenges that can be distressing. It may be related to our work, our family, our activities, our health or any number of reasons. When the distresses of life come, how do we handle them? Do we attempt to solve them on our own, or do we look to God and His Word to give us the calm that is so needed? Through out Scripture we see how important it is to go to God and let Him handle our distressing times.

WE KNOW WE CAN CALL OUT TO THE LORD

2 Samuel 22:7 In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried to my God: and he did hear my voice out of his temple, and my cry did enter into his ears.

Psalms 18:6 In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.

WE CAN KNOW THE LORD WILL SAVE US OUT OF THEM

Psalms 107:13 Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses.

WE CAN KNOW THAT THE LORD WILL ANSWER US

Psalms 118:5 I called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me, and set me in a large place.

WE CAN KNOW THAT THE LORD HEARS US

Psalms 120:1 In my distress I cried unto the LORD, and he heard me.

WE CAN KNOW THAT THEY CANNOT SEPARATE US FROM CHRIST

Romans 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

WE DON'T NEED TO BE IN DISPAIR

2 Corinthians 4:8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;

WE CAN TAKE PLEASURE IN THEM

2 Corinthians 12:10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christs sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

WE CAN KNOW THAT GOD WILL COMFORT US

1 Thessalonians 3:7 Therefore, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our affliction and distress by your faith:
