COMFORT FROM THE PSALMS

The book of Psalms is filled with comfort. The Psalmist faced times of trouble. The following verses bring hope when things seem hopeless, help when it seems no one cares, and peace when the storms of life seem to overwhelm.

Psalms 25:17 The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my distresses.

Psalms 57:1 Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.

Psalme 145:14 The Lord helps the fallen and lifts up those bent beneath their loads. NLT

Psalms 34:4 I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.

Psalms 18:6 In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.

Psalms 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Psalms 61:2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

Psalms 55:22 Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

Psalms 22:11 Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help.

Psalms 50:15 And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.

Psalms 9:9 The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.

Psalms 107:19-20 Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses. He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.

Psalms 108:12 Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.

Psalms 112:7 He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.

Psalms 118:8 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.

Psalms 119:71 It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.

Psalms 138:7-8 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me. 8 The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.

Psalms 139:17-18 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.

Psalms 141:8 But mine eyes are unto thee, O GOD the Lord: in thee is my trust; leave not my soul destitute.
