ABIDING IN CHRIST THROUGH PRAYER

Christ, our greatest example in prayer, spent much time talking with His Father. If Christ had need of prayer, so must we. "Would that we might learn from our Lord how impossible it is to walk with God, to obtain God's blessings or leading, or to do His work joyously and fruitfully apart from close unbroken fellowship with Him." Let us prepare our hearts as we pray God's Word:

Lord, I pray that you would search me, O God, and know my heart; try me and know my thoughts; and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Psalm 139:23, 24

Help me to let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14

Lord, may I be faithful to study to show myself approved unto you, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. II Timothy 2:15

As I teach my students, I pray that you would put your words in my mouth. Jeremiah 1:9

God, you have said that those who hunger for your word will be blessed. So may I hunger and thirst after your righteousness, knowing that I will be filled. Matthew 5:6

May my desire always be to grow in grace, and the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. II Peter 3:18

As I study your word, may I always realize that your word is living, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

Lord, I pray that my speech will always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that I may know how to answer every man. Colossians 4:6

Father, you have promised to give wisdom liberally to your children when we ask. So please grant me an abundance of wisdom as I read and your Word, as I talk with others, and as I go about my daily tasks. James 1:5

Thank you Father, for the hope of knowing that I have been justified and made heirs with you. May my every word, deed, and action display to others that glorious hope. Hebrews 6:19

As your child, may my desire always be to do your will by being separated from self, and sanctified unto Christ. I Peter 4:2

Lord, I pray that I would abstain from fleshly lusts, have honest behavior and submit to the ordinances of man, for your sake. I Peter 2:11-15

Heavenly Father, when you choose to allow trials to come into my life, help me to remember that they are just for a moment and are light compared to the eternal weight of glory that you have prepared for me. II Corinthians 4:17

Dear Father, help me to remember as Paul did, that your grace is sufficient for me whatever the situation. II Corinthians 4:9

Father, your Word tells us that Satan has blinded the minds of unbelievers so that the gospel of Christ would not shine on them. Grant me boldness to speak of your glorious gospel, and to be able to answer with your Word, for the hope that is within me. II Corinthians 4:4; I Peter 3:15

Teach me thy way O Lord, and lead me in a plain path. Psalm 27:11

Heavenly Father, may I always desire to hide your word in my heart so I won't sin against you. Psalm 119:11

God, please open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law. Psalm 119:18

Lord make me to understand the way of thy precepts: so shall I talk of thy wondrous works. Psalm 119:27

Teach me, O Lord, the way of thy statutes:  and I shall keep it unto the end.  Psalm 119:33
